My shop is located in the middle of Old Town Meißen. When rambling in the Burgstraße you will directly find Antiquitäten Rätzer: porcelain, furniture and jewellery are the goods I have specialised in. As we are a Meißen shop we have naturally concentrated on the porcelain of this town: lockets, candlesticks, figurines, splendid dishes, services, vases and lots more. If rambling in the internet shop is not enough: just visit us in Burgstraße. Our shop as well as Meißen are always worth a visit.
The small town close to Dresden looks back on more than one thousend years of history. After its founding as "Reichsburg" in 929 the Wettin sovereigns were enfeoffed "Mark" Meißen. This was the hour of birth of the county Sachsen and the town Meißen. It was Ernst and Albrecht von Wettin who errected the first castle of the German building history at this location, the late Gothic Albrechtsburg (construction period 1471 – 1524), a grand residence. The first European porcelain manufactory was also founded in Meißen, in 1710.
The medieval alleys and squares, the centuries-old middle-class houses accommodate shops, small coffee houses and wine cellars. Every year they offer a scenery for our town fairs as there are potters’ fair, wine fair and autumn fair or Christmas fair. However, the town is worth a visit at other times as well, e.g. for sightseeing, shopping and relaxing.
Why don’t you drop in at Burgstraße during your visit. I’m looking forward to meeting you.
